Updates

Sorry I've not kept up daily with the blog- it's VERY busy around here! After picking up Ryan from Kindergarten on Monday and finding out that he already told EVERYONE in his class that they're invited to his party (I'm so dumb- I never once figured in the fact that little kids WILL talk!), I decided to go ahead and invite 12 more kids. I manipulated what I had to make 12 more of everything, but I'll have to end up going to the store again for a few things. On the bright side, some parents have already called and said that their child won't be able to make it, so I'm hoping that at least 10 more parents will call and that we'll have the original 30 or less, so I won't HAVE to make extra Yoshi hats. Those are the things I do NOT want to make more of! Lol.

All I'm really stuck on right now is the lunch we'll be serving. The only pizza joint in town is EXPENSIVE! A Large pizza (I believe there are 8-10 pieces in each pizza) is around $13- $15 EACH. That means in order to be "safe" and have enough for each child plus any parents and siblings that might show up, I have to fork out over $60, plus drinks.

But then I was also thinking about Subway. I usually get ONE footlong and cut it into 4 pieces for my kids, but if I really skimped and had them cut it into SIX or even EIGHT pieces each, at $5/sub I'll only have to spend around $40, saving me around $20. I think that's what I'll end up doing.

So all I need to do now is get off the computer and make the pinatas. I decided to make 2, since there *MAY* be around 35 kids. I can separate classes and do a pinata for each class/birthday boy.

It's stressful doing everything by myself since Benji's in St. George. (Hmmm... he was in St. George the week before the baptism, too- I wonder if he schedules it that way on purpose! LOL!) ;)

In other news:
The kids had "Spring Portraits" taken at school, and I completely forgot about it! So these capture them on a "normal, not-done-up" day. I didn't purchase them, but here's a glimpse. :)

Koby started baseball last Saturday and it was so nice to see that he was one of the "better" kids on the team. Meaning that he knew what he was doing, caught most of the balls, has a good "arm", and did great at bat. I'm super proud of him- this is one activity that makes him happy, and it's so nice to see your child happy. It also helps that his "girlfriend" is on the same team. ;)

Koby is also finally reading the books he SHOULD be reading at his age. He was able to read them for a while, but never WANTED to, and always took home the "easy, peasy" books as his take-home reading assignments. Well, he's finally on The Magic Treehouse books and other chapter books, and has even re-read Treasure Island and Jungle Book- the books he received from his birthday.

Ryan will start T-ball soon, and it's good because he was so BORED watching Koby- he wanted to be out there with him, lol!

Ryan's Kindergarten class is taking "Graduation" photos today in cap and gown- cuteness, huh? Can't wait to see the pics!

Brittany's been working hard to get her required amount of reading in by the end of the month so she can attend the school's "Camp Read-A-Lot" fun fair that they'll be hosting, complete with blow-up slides and free BBQ!

Just for fun:
Here's what I found next to the computer this morning. Brittany loves playing "Pet Society" on Facebook, and apparently she's trying to save her "money" that she earns on the game. Lol!
Brittany is also doing very well in school! I don't usually hear about it, but rather she is always saying how rotten her day was, who bullied her that day, how she wishes she could fit in, how she hates math, etc. But then she came home with her grades the other day and I was impressed with how well she's actually doing- academically, anyway. Very neat considering how hard it is for her to focus on her homework at home. Also, I know that when *I* was her age, I did ROTTEN on homework and schoolwork, and a lot of it had to do with my social life (being an outcast as well). She is quite smart! And the stories she writes are so good- she's got a very creative imagination. I'm super proud of her.

Jordyn was sick for a week a couple weeks ago, so she's had to "make up" P.E (of all classes) by going in at 6am to swim for an hour at the High School. She's had to do it on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

Speaking of Jordyn- she's been attending play practice nearly every afternoon, and they'll be performing The Sound of Music next Wednesday, the 21st through Saturday, the 24th, at 7pm at the High School. Tickets are only $5!

I also just have to say how proud I am of Jordyn. She will be turning 13 this year and she is one of the purest, sweetest, most gospel-oriented girls I know! She LOVES reading the scriptures and is always coming to us with questions. She has a strong testimony of the Savior. She works diligently on her Personal Progress, and was SO excited to FINALLY get her YW medallion necklace that she was supposed to receive last year when she first entered YW. She has loads of scripture quotes and gospel hand-outs plastered all over her walls, and says her prayers every morning and night. I'm super proud of her!

I'm hanging in there. I've done terrible with the "Biggest Loser" challenge my friend Kathy has been doing, and I can't blame anyone or anything but myself. I hope to join the next round, though. I've just been so busy!! I haven't even had the time to update my blog like I've wanted, and there has been SO many activities and pics taken! One of these days.

Benji has been hammered with work, and we're extremely grateful! Not the huge money-makers, but enough to get us through and to pay the bills. One happy note- Benji was patient and went outside, tore apart the wrecked portion of his Ranger, scouted around for the best price possible on the parts he needed, and then put it together himself- saving a LOT of money! It's now driveable!! All he has to do is get it inspected, re-registered, and re-insured! This saves us so much money, and also the time and money it would've taken to buy him a "new" truck. Way to go, Benji!

That's us in a nutshell. SO much more to follow!

Wow, it sounds like, for the most part, things are going really well. I hear you on the stress stuff... I had one of the most horrible weekends of my life this past weekend, which was a culmination of everything else. Anyhoo... I'm glad the party prep and the kids other activities are going well. Have you considered making pizzas yourself? The ingredients for 2 "large" pizzas cost me about $10 (or less), and I often make 6 at a time (I don't have 6 pizza pans, but I'll make part of them on my cookie sheets and other shallow pans). Just a random thought. :) Have fun!!

I haven't thought about it, but it sounds like fun, actually! Can I get the recipe for the pizza dough? :) Thanks for the tip!

I was going to suggest making your own pizzas, too. I have a simple pizza sauce recipe and my dough I just make in my kitchenaid. You can buy a big bag of pepperoni and mozzarella cheese from sams or costco for MUCH cheaper, if you had a chance to get to one before this weekend. :)

And I don't remember you being an outcast at Brittany's age. I thought you had tons of friends! Everyone in the neighborhood in Magna loved you.

It was fun to read the updates on your kids. I know I need to update my blog but for some reason I just don't want to. weird, huh? I'll get to it sometime. :O)

You're right- when I wrote that about me I was thinkng about when we moved to Hawaii- the first like, 2 years. Lol.

I'd love your recipe for pizza sauce- Panguitch does not carry normal jars/cans of "pizza sauce", so I had to put some pizza seasoning into some tomato sauce. hopefully it tastes okay, sometimes it's the actual sauce that makes the pizza yummo or yukko. :)

I just use plain old Ragu for my pizza sauce. It works and tastes great! Good luck with everything!!! That is an insane amount of kiddos coming to your party. Hope you survive it ;)
