March Misc

My friend Kathryn (who happens to be my friend Jenn's sister-in-law) made these awesome Scout Mother's Pin necklaces for my 2 boys! She alternated the colors so that we can tell the boys' necklaces apart. I always wanted one for when my boys got to that age in Scouting, and now I have some! THANKS, Kathryn! You're an amazing seamstress! :)

March Misc.

Koby received a birthday card from his Grandpa Biggs (my maternal grandfather) along with 2 dollars! He was pretty excited. :)

A collection of perler bead creations we've made. The kit only comes with the dog, fish, and cat shapes, so we tried using those "bases" to make other creations- can you guess? Lol. Brittany made the two top mushrooms- "1-Up" and a "big" from Super Mario Bros. I made the "starman" and the "Yoshi", and Koby made the "K" and the green piece of candy. Lol. The fish you see with the heart- Koby made that for his BFF Bella for her birthday. Notice the sweet heart? Yeah. ;)

Ryan finally got to take his "100's Day" poster home, so we quickly snapped a picture. You'll notice that each goldfish we glued on made a very nice circular grease spot. Lol. Good thing we painted it. :) Rice had fun snacking on it later. Lol.

Another fun morning- I decided to make the kids some "Yoshi Egg" pancakes. Silly me didn't think ahead of time to save some pancake batter (that's white) out to make the white spots on the green egg... so I improvised with white chocolate chips. :)

BIRTHDAY DATE!
Saturday I took Koby to Cedar City where we met my mom to take Koby on a birthday date! We went to International House Of Pancakes to eat lunch!
While we were waiting, grandma gave Koby his birthday presents!
2 books- "Treasure Island" and "The Jungle Book".
and... (do you see his big eyes? Lol) some gummy rabbits!
Time to eat! This whole time I had Koby pegged for some sort of chocolate chip or chocolate pancake with whipped cream, etc. Well he surprised me- he ordered a plain pancake topped with strawberries! He LOVES strawberries!
I had stuffed French Toast and it was delicious!
We then went to Walmart where I was able to get a bunch of stuff I needed, included a TON of fleece to make blankets with. Walmart has a pretty sucky selection of material, but I made do with what they had.

On the way home, we stopped at Dairy Queen as is our tradition and picked up a Brownie Earthquake for Koby:
...which I had them put inside a box to keep the mess to a minimun. Lol.
While I was driving home, I realized Koby was reading "Treasure Island". He loves it! I'm super impressed because he has always made it known that he hates reading books with "lots of pages". But he's hardly put this book down since he got it! :)
These next pictures are out of order, but they have to do with Koby's bday, so oh, well!
Last night when Benji and the girls got back, they gave Koby his gift that Grandma McEwen sent home with them. First, here are the boys' valentine treats she saved to give them:
And his birthday present!
WooHoo!! A new church outfit! Koby REALLY needed new church clothes!
and a cute little magnifying glass that lights up.
Later that evening, I look over and this is what I saw: Koby LOVES reading his book! Thanks, grandma & grandpa!

COOK-OUT!
Saturday while I was at Walmart, Ryan called me and asked me to pick up some hot dogs and hot dog buns because he wanted a "cook-out" in the backyard BBQ. So when we got home, that's just what we did!
Yes, it was FrRrRreeeeeezing, but... the hotdogs rocked!

PROJECT LINUS

The same friends I mentioned above participated in a "Project Linus" service project for Disney's "Give a day, Get a Disney day" promotion. You make one blanket and exchange it for a ticket good for one day at Disneyland! I think I read that the organization gives the blankets to ANY person in need, including the children devistated by the Haiti earthquake, and I imagine now that Chile and Turkey have had their own devistations with earthquakes, they'll have an option to help them out as well. You have to document the person actually working on the blanket to prove that they helped. I heard that Disney is already running out of tickets, so I hope we can still catch it! If not, we have a hopsital right here that we'd love to donate to. :) Brittany wanted to do her quilt herself, but the other 5 quilts will be photographed with each one of us "working" on it, but I'm going to let Jordyn do the majority of the work so she can count it toward her "10-hour" service project she needs to do for Personal Progress. If they meet a few requirements by April, they'll get to camp out at the Church-owned "Warm Springs" in Mesquite!
Brittany was FAST at "tying" the strips!
I love how these look all "tied"
When I was at Walmart, I chose the cute flower pattern, but couldn't find ANYTHING to go on the reverse side. I finally settled for this "rainbow" pattern, thinking it will have to "do". Once it was finished, I LOVED how it turned out! The colors matched perfectly.
Cute little Brittany- she is so in love with it. Now she wants me to buy some fabric so she can make one for herself!
I quickly documented Benji working on "his" blanket so he can get credit.
One down, 5 to go!
BABY BLESSING

Sunday Benji took the girls (I was sick so I kept the boys at home with me to make the trip easier on Benji) to St. George to see his sister's baby blessed. They did take a camera, but I'll have to find where it is and post those pics later. I took a picture of them all dressed up as they were leaving: Don't they look gorgeous?
My HANDSOME husband :)
Our beautiful girls!
I know I've said it before, but I LOVE having a brunette in the family!
They got home at around 7pm and we then rushed to the church to pick out a baptism jumper for Benji and Koby. While we were there, we learned that Koby's BFF, Bella, just set a time to get baptized on the same day! Her birthday is actually that day and we were sad that Koby was going to miss it, but it looks like they'll be able to see each other get baptized instead! How cool is that? :)

Benji left for SLC early this morning at 4am. He'll be there all week, and hopefully he'll have time to check out some Ford Ranger 4-wheel drive trucks that we saw on KSL.com. They're all the right price and we could use our totalled truck for parts AND he'll have a 4-wheel drive truck, so it will be perfect if he can get one this week. :)

I am still sick, and have a HUGE migrane. Lovely. But I knew it was coming- Aunt Flo is here in full force. Nice, huh? But I have a LOT to do on my own with making sure all is set for the baptism, invitations, etc. I just finished making the program- it turned out cute if I may say so myself. :) Now just to wrap up the food issues and check off my "to-do" list. I just hope I don't get REALLY sick this week because of the stress. Brittany came home sick again, so I don't know what she has. Poor thing. I'm just tired of all the viruses-- and all this SNOW we keep getting! We had a couple of gorgeous days here in the 60's (very nice for us!), but then Winter comes back and says, "Just Kidding!" and dumps more snow. Lol.

I'd better get off this computer. I have a BUTTLOAD of stuff to do!! :)
