Birthday Boy!

Decorating the night before:
The 2-layered "Yoshi" Cake.
I used some gel that I've had lying around, but it ended up being so runny, that it sort of ruined the "cute" look I was going for. :p
SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 28th!
Koby gets RIGHT to opening his presents! This is the one thing he's been BEGGING for- a Yoshi plushie!
His great-Grandma Mitchell sent him this old dime bank, and at first I thought maybe it was from when my dad was young- then we read the note, and it actually belonged to my grandma (Koby's great-grandma) who got it when she was Koby's age! Pretty neat. You stick dimes in, and then when it reaches $5 worth, the back unlocks and you can take it out. It's neat because it has a counter on the front that tells you how much money you have inside. It makes me want to go and clean out more of my grandma's closets! Lol.
A "star" pillow from Super Mario Bros!
A set of perler beads! (Heather- don't go out and get your kids this. I kind of already did. ;) )
Yay! More jeans! I got a size "8" because that's all they had on sale, and thought it would be way too big on him. Well, they actually fit very nice! I need to start realizing that my kids are growing UP! Lol. I still keep thinking they're these "young kids" that stay a size 5 or 6.
I also ordered Koby a "Yoshi" T-shirt from Amazon.com (also where we got the Yoshi and Star), and it stated it was a "youth" T-shirt. Well it comes and we find out it's a GIRL youth shirt! Darn it. Well, he wore it for pajamas and loves it anyway.
A card and a $2 bill from his aunt Sandi & cousins
A whole box of candy from Aunt Heather, Uncle Wendell, & cousins!
Wait! There's more!
A way-cute fleece scarf! Thanks, Heather!
Koby & his cake. Heather- he LOVES the scarf! He wanted to wear it all day long, and even wore it to church. :) So really- thank you!
Not letting Yoshi out of his sight now! They're inseparable.
Benji the "Star-Man"
Pretty girl! Poor Brittany has been sick with a stomach & intestinal bug the past few days, so even though she was feeling good enough to join us, she didn't feel like having any cake.
Jordyn has also been sick with a horrible stomach-ache, but so far hasn't had it full-blown like Brittany has. *knock on wood*
Awww. For cuteness. :)
Walking through more decorations
Koby's personalized "Yoshi" balloon
Birthday loot!
Hugs & Kisses from his Daddy
I found a bunch of dimes and Koby couldn't wait to try out his new bank!
We decided to try out the perler bead set!
Koby making a fish for his friend Bella-he wanted me to make a heart shape in the middle. :)
Jordyn trying out the dog
Brittany tries a fish after we ironed Koby's fish
We had a blast making a bunch of different things! It's way easy to do and after you finally get all the beads the way you want, ironing only takes a few seconds and then you have your creations! Sill me- didn't think to take a picture of everything we made. Maybe later today.

We sent Jordyn & Koby to church so Koby didn't miss out on the Birthday Song, and he came back with some fun stuff!
A prayer rock, a poem about the prayer rock, some candy, and a cute "I will follow the Savior" bracelet. What's even funner is that the bright green color is his favorite- "Yoshi" color!
Since we couldn't justify a trip to Cedar, Koby went with me to the service station to pick out a couple of movies. I tried to get him to pick the new Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs movie, but because of his love affair with dogs, he picked these 2:
We tried to warn him that we heard Marley & Me was sad, but he still wanted to see it. We came home and Benji made caramel popcorn (thanks, Heather for that recipe- we use it all the time!) and set the kids up in the living room with their movies, and went to our room for ours:

This turned out to be a total tear-jerker!! If you haven't seen it- take LOTS of tissue!
This one is crude, but a much-needed comedy relief after watching the first one. I like don't think I'll end up buying either movie, but it was fun to rent movies again.
In all, Koby had a fun birthday and ended up having his favorite dinner- Spaghetti! The sauce actually turned out really good this time around, and he horked down his second favorite- garlic bread- with dinner.

Today just starts another BUSY week. Baptism to keep planning is my number one priority for now. That and keeping the house clean!
Happy Monday!

what an awesome birthday! I love the yoshi cake and your cute decorations. So glad he liked the scarf. I felt kind of guilty because it's not like it's "cool" or anything.

Now I'm craving some caramel popcorn. I got that recipe from SIL, and I am probably the only one who loves it, so I never make it. I'm glad you like it, too. My family prefers buttery to the sweet.

Oh, not Benji! He is ALWAYS making your caramel popcorn! I love the stuff because it doesn't get hard as a rock- it stays soft and chewy. :)
